Start your AI & Data Analytics journey
Data Science and Machine Learning are powerful techniques that solve various business problems such as automation for cost saving, forecasting of sales or detecting suspicious activities in financial transactions. A rapidly growing amount and complexity of data, models and applications require appropriate approaches to managing those resources and staying up-to-date in a constantly changing technological landscape.
Economics and econometric methods analyse individual and collective decision-making, providing insights into underlying mechanisms that eventually determine actual behavior. Rigorous scientific and mathematical foundations suggest optimal behavior and established methods such as regression analysis, time series analysis and experimental designs allow to investigate the validity of theoretical predictions.
Economic Data Science integrates frameworks and techniques from statistics, engineering and computer science and combines sharp economic reasoning with the power of large datasets, predictive models and computational resources. This powerful interaction yields substantial productivity gains, ranging from a more efficient allocation of resources within a firm, deeper understanding of market and consumer research such as optimal pricing to evidence-based strategic and managerial decision-making.

About me
I'm an economist by training and have worked in data-centric roles with model-based approaches at different institutions such as technology firms, commercial banks and central banks, mainly in (macro) economic research departments. Driven by curiosity and an experimental approach to solving business and economic problems I started programming about ten years ago (with a large-scale webscraping project) and integrated novel tools and techniques into my research toolbox over the years. I believe that the greatest challenges to humanity and economies require unconventional measures that start with the individual; routines and outdated practices may hinder progress and limited knowledge about existing solutions prevent oneself from asking the right questions.
Currently, I'm pursuing a PhD in Economics at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and work as a Junior Economist at the ifo Institute. I like to share my knowledge and enable others to utilize technologies in the most effective ways, to inspire and motivate as well as to contribute to institutional growth. I enjoy meeting new and interesting people and organizations, to learn about their needs and challenges and guide them through their own data and economics journey.
